The BBC Audio Drama Awards is a UK-wide awards ceremony honoring excellence in the field of audio drama. Begun by the BBC in 2011, the awards "aim to celebrate and recognise the cultural importance of audio drama, on air and online, and to give recognition to the actors, writers, producers, sound designers, and others who work in the genre"[1].
The first ceremony (the 2011 BBC Audio Drama Awards) took place on 29 January 2012, at the Radio Theatre at BBC Broadcasting House in London. It was hosted by actor David Tennant. The Richard Imison Memorial Award and the Tinniswood Award winners were announced at the ceremony.
