Baghdad Burning is a radio play dramatized by John Fletcher, based on the internet blog of Riverbend. It was first broadcast on BBC Radio 4 on 18 December 2006. The total running time is 58 minutes[1].
Plot[]
A dramatised, searing, first-hand account of life in occupied Baghdad following the invasion of Iraq in 2003, and drawn from the real life internet blog of a young Iraqi woman, known only for security reasons as Riverbend. Her stories, which have been read by thousands of people worldwide, are told with humour and honesty – revealing an intelligent, resilient but vulnerable young woman in an impossible situation.
Baghdad Burning was originally written in five 15 minute episodes for The Woman's Hour serial. It was edited to 60 minutes for a World Service broadcast which can be heard at:
