Summary[]

Dramatization of Gogol's short story. The story opens in Dikanka, Ukraine. Oksana the witch flies across the night sky; the Devil is trying to steal the the moon and hide it in his pocket. Since it is the night before Christmas, the Devil is free to roam around and torment people as he pleases, so he decides to find a way to get back at the village blacksmith and painter, Vakula, because the hideous portraits of him in the church.
