A newspaper editor and the wife of a wheeler-dealer meet on the London train. The man is telephoned repeatedly by his (much younger) boss, who has yet another daft initiative to be implemented. Meanwhile, the wife has found that her husband has just sold her Shetland pony to pay the last few quid on another dubious deal. They have both had enough.
