Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead is a radio play by Tom Stoppard, based on his acclaimed stage play. It was first broadcast on BBC Radio 3 on 24 December 1978[1].

Plot[]

Two marginal characters from Hamlet and what they do "offstage" Shakespeare's plot. Rosencrantz and Guildenstern inhabit a Beckett-like world beyond their comprehension, and they set out on a journey unsure of where they are going or who they themselves are.
