The Real Thing is a radio play by Tom Stoppard, based on his 1982 stage play. It was first broadcast on BBC Radio 4 on 30 December 2006 as an installment of the Saturday Play[1]. Directed by Sir Trevor Nunn, it was his debut as a radio director. An earlier version was broadcast in 1992.

Henry is a successful playwright married to Charlotte, who has the lead role in his latest play about adultery. Her co-star Max is married to another actress, Annie. Annie and Henry are madly in love, but is it any more real than the subjects of Henry's play?
